I first visited this shrine two years ago, and decided to wash about 500 yen ($5). On my way back to the train station 30 minutes later, I found 500 yen in the coin return of the passport photo machine. Within one month, I had a job offer after four months of fruitless searching. Six months after my first visit to the shrine, I returned with my girlfriend and washed 1,000 yen note. A week later I got a raise and my girlfriend found her grandmother’s diamond studded hair comb that had been missing for the last 40 years. After only one year of working, my boss wanted to return to the US to look after his elderly parents and sold me the business. Because he had to leave quickly and needed money to care for his parents, I got a great deal. I returned to the shrine to offer thanks for my good fortune and to wash a 10,000 yen note. My business continued to prosper, and very soon my business grew to the point that I only had to work two or three days a week.
